Simple – This is a multi-rep push pull (bench and deadlift) challenge:
1. Download the Brawn Power app.
2. Weigh in when the event opens.
3. Record separately your 1-3 rep bench and 1-3 rep deadlift with the free timestamp camera app. Choose whether to go heavy with a 1 rep max, or lift lighter for longer (up to 3 reps). Choose wisely as you will receive an instant BIPs score which measures intensity by taking into account bodyweight, sex, weight-on-bar and reps performed. This means if you would rather lift more reps at a lighter weight you still have the ability to accrue more BIPs points than a lifter who lifts less reps at a heavier weight.
Here’s an example:
Andy is male and weighs 100kg
Andy’s Deadlift 1 rep max is 200kg giving him a BIPs score of 186.62
Andy’s Deadlift 3 rep max is 185kg giving him a BIPs score of 189.65
4. Show the weights at the end of each lift.
5. You have up to three attempts to increase your BIPs score while the event is open between 29 Nov – 31 Dec.
6. As an optional extra, to celebrate the five year anniversary since his legendary 1000lb deadlift, Chris Duffin (Founder of Kabuki Strength) challenges you to a 20 rep deadlift! Film it in exactly the same way as your 1-3 rep lifts. There is a separate leaderboard and prize for this challenge.
How heavy can you deadlift 20 reps?
For the first time ever lifters across the globe can compete against each other with no qualifiers.
After 18 months of travel restrictions, being able to compete by uploading training videos from your gym, your home, or anywhere with a barbell and bench, makes this event the most accessible powerlifting competition worldwide.
You can take part regardless of whether you are currently in a training cycle; as this is a 1-3 rep challenge it will complement your training.
New lifters who haven’t competed previously can enter without intimidation.
Brawn Power Platform is in partnership with A7 and Kabuki Strength; although it is an unsanctioned virtual event, steps have been put in place to ensure it is a fair competition:
A timestamped weigh-in must be uploaded to the Brawn app prior to any video submissions.
All videos of lifts uploaded via the Brawn app will receive a BIPs intensity score which takes into account the lifter’s weight, gender and weight lifted. Videos must be timestamped and clearly show the weights at the end of the lift.
At the close of the event there will be a review of the video submissions by an independent panel and once the leaderboard has been announced there will be a window for anyone to make an appeal.
The categories are a streamlined version of the traditional powerlifting categories. This is to increase competition & improve your experience. We have three weight categories; Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight. Three age categories; Junior, Open, and Masters. We are also splitting the competition by sex into male & female.
The total prize pot value is tens of thousands of pounds consisting of Kabuki online coaching packages, Kabuki deadlift bars, A7 gift cards and equipment. Also the top three winners in the US will receive meal packs from Swolehouse.
PERKS: All participants also receive exclusive video content from Chris Duffin, free access to Kabuki education video library, 10% off Kabuki team coaching, an A7 sticker pack, 10% off at Primal (UK only) and 20% off Swolehouse meals (US only).
$40 (US) per person.
